This technique consists on the insertion of very fine, sterile and single-use needles placed in specific acupuncture points to assist in re-balancing organ and bio-mechanical disharmonies. There are a total of 367 acupuncture points within the body, with proven effects on a large range of conditions. The insertion of the needle is painless. A Chinese Acupuncture consultation includes physical examination, diagnosis and treatment planning.
Acupuncture needles are inserted and then small alligator clips are placed on the needles. The small electric current operated machine is then turned on and micro-current stimulates the acupuncture point. The electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles and reduces inflammation and releases endorphins. It is considered to be especially useful for chronic pain syndromes or less sensitive body areas. This is similar to the TENS unit that physical therapists use.
Ear Acupuncture - Auricular
This technique involves inserting needles into specific points on the ear. Stimulating these points is thought to promote healing in other areas of the body. If these points often require to be stimulated, small black seeds from the Vaccaria plant are secured on the ear with a piece of adhesive tape over specific acupuncture points. The seeds (also known as ear seeds, beads or pellets) stimulate the point by exerting mild pressure. The seeds can be left on for up to 5 days, even with showering, sleeping, swimming etc. They may fall off sooner, depending on where they've been placed. After 5 days of wear, remove seeds and allow the skin to rejuvenate for 24 hours before replacement.
This technique has been proven to be an efficient method of treating a wide variety of conditions, from headaches and allergies to addictions (e.g smoking, alcohol or drugs), weight loss and pain disorders.
