Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before booking or attending AcuRodos.

By booking an appointment or attending AcuRodos — whether online, by phone, by email or in person — you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with booking.

1. About AcuRodos

AcuRodos is a registered trademark (AcuRodos ®). The clinic is operated by Jose Rodriguez, a sole trader registered in Ireland (CRO Nº 616496) and a registered member of the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association (AFPA), membership number 8638.

2. Services

AcuRodos provides acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine consultations, moxibustion, cupping therapy, TCM nutritional guidance and related complementary therapies (collectively "Treatment").

Important: Treatment at AcuRodos is a complementary therapy. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, advice or treatment from a qualified physician. If you are currently under the care of a GP, consultant or other healthcare professional, you should inform them before beginning complementary therapy. If you are unsure whether treatment is appropriate for you, consult your GP first.

By booking treatment, you acknowledge that:

  • Acupuncture is a physically invasive therapy involving the insertion of sterile needles
  • Results may vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed
  • You have disclosed all relevant medical history, medications, allergies and contraindications honestly and fully
  • You will inform the practitioner of any changes to your health or medications before each session

3. Booking and appointments

3.1 Making a booking

Appointments may be made online via Fresha (acurodos.ie/book), by phone (089 400 5106) or by email (info@acurodos.ie). A booking is confirmed when you receive a written confirmation from AcuRodos or Fresha. A booking confirmation constitutes a contract between you and AcuRodos for the provision of Treatment on the terms set out here.

3.2 First appointment

Your first appointment is a full diagnostic assessment. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete your intake consultation form. Please bring a list of any current medications.

3.3 Arriving for your appointment

Please arrive on time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your session may be shortened or rescheduled at the practitioner's discretion, and the full session fee will remain payable.

To cancel or reschedule, contact us at info@acurodos.ie or call 089 400 5106. Cancellations made via Fresha online are also accepted. The time of cancellation is taken from our receipt of your message.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments due to practitioner illness, emergency or circumstances beyond our control. In this case, you will receive as much notice as possible and a full refund or reschedule with no charge.

4. Fees and payment

Current fees are published on our Fees & Plans page. Fees are payable at the time of treatment. We accept cash and all major credit/debit cards.

A professional VAT receipt is provided at every visit to support health insurance reimbursement claims.

4.1 Treatment courses and memberships

Pre-paid course packages and memberships are non-refundable once treatment has commenced, except where required by Irish consumer law. Unused sessions in a course package are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. After 12 months, unused sessions expire and are not refundable.

4.2 Health insurance reimbursement

AcuRodos is recognised by VHI, Laya Healthcare, Irish Life, Aviva, HSF and Medical Aid. Reimbursement amounts vary by insurer and individual plan. It is your responsibility to confirm your entitlement with your insurer before booking. AcuRodos provides a professional receipt at every visit but cannot guarantee any specific reimbursement amount.

5. Conduct and safety

We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and professional environment for all patients. We reserve the right to refuse treatment or end a session immediately without refund if a patient:

  • Behaves in a threatening, abusive, discriminatory or disrespectful manner towards the practitioner
  • Attends a session under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
  • Has provided false or misleading medical information
  • Attempts to engage the practitioner in any activity outside the scope of clinical practice

6. Contraindications and medical disclosure

You must disclose all relevant medical information before and during treatment, including:

  • All current medications (including blood thinners, immunosuppressants, fertility medications)
  • Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy
  • Pacemaker or other implanted devices
  • Blood clotting disorders or bleeding conditions
  • Active infections, skin conditions or open wounds at needle sites
  • History of cancer, epilepsy, or diabetes
  • Any previous adverse reactions to acupuncture or needles

Failure to disclose relevant medical information releases AcuRodos from any liability arising from treatment complications that the disclosed information would have prevented or mitigated.

7. Consent to treatment

Before your first session, you will be asked to sign a Consent to Treatment form. This documents that you:

  • Have been informed of the nature of acupuncture and the proposed treatment
  • Have been given the opportunity to ask questions
  • Understand the potential risks and side effects (including bruising, soreness, minor bleeding, temporary worsening of symptoms)
  • Give your voluntary, informed consent to treatment

Consent may be withdrawn at any point during treatment. If you withdraw consent mid-session, treatment will stop immediately. The session fee remains payable.

8. Traditional herbal preparations

AcuRodos does not sell herbal products online or advertise herbal preparations for specific conditions. Where a herbal preparation is discussed and supplied as part of your individual care plan, this follows a personal clinical consultation only.

By accepting a herbal preparation from AcuRodos, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • The preparation has been supplied following a personal clinical assessment and is intended for your individual use only
  • It is not sold online and is not publicly advertised for any specific condition
  • It is supplied directly to you following individual personal assessment and is not available for online purchase
  • You have disclosed all current medications, supplements, allergies and intolerances before the consultation
  • You will not share the preparation with any other person
  • You will report any adverse reactions immediately to the practitioner and, if necessary, to your GP

AcuRodos does not make therapeutic claims about herbal preparations in any public advertising or on this website. Any discussion of potential benefits takes place in the context of a private clinical consultation only.

9. Limitation of liability

AcuRodos and Jose Rodriguez shall not be liable for any loss, damage or adverse reaction arising from treatment where:

  • You have failed to disclose relevant medical information
  • You have not followed post-treatment advice provided by the practitioner
  • The loss or damage is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control
  • You have continued treatment against the advice of the practitioner

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Irish law.

AcuRodos holds full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

10. Website use

The information on this website is provided for general information and educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional medical consultation. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding your specific health concerns.

AcuRodos makes every effort to ensure website content is accurate and up to date but cannot guarantee this. We reserve the right to change, update or remove content at any time without notice.

11. Complaints procedure

We aim to provide the highest standard of care. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your treatment or our service, please contact us in the first instance:

We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 28 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association (AFPA):

12. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

Consumers in Ireland also have rights under the Consumer Protection Act 2007, the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980, and the Consumer Rights Act 2022. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The current version and its effective date will always be available on this page. Continued use of our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
